Seems like a slight step back for the band in both vocals and technicality. It's still pretty damn good though. Could be a 3.5-4 for me.

^ Weird, I get the impression that they put a lot of emotion into their music.

Gotta say some of the lyrics just killed
this album for me.. Example : you can't make a grave without digging one. That literally means nothing. That's like saying
you can't Make a cake without baking one. Congradulations you let yourselves be changed by lamb of god production.
Hopefully next album gets back
to what made monuments great.

Well I was watching vids of adler messing with em. Just figured he did the whole thing. But on that note, I also thought the drums were a lot worse this go round then on Monuments. I got a very Matt Grenier vibe from monuments (which is a good thing) and got a more generic metal feel with this. the fills were just uninspired it felt like.

This is growing on me with more listens. Some lame moments, but overall this is pretty cool.

Yeah, this is still solid, glad you liked it.
As for the drums, I feel like this album was more focused, but it allowed the band to sound less like an ABR-clone and come into their own sound.

I like this =D
comments:
Hellish - last of the three breakdowns is the only good one on the album (the one with the chants rather than screams), the rest are just chugchugchug
Totally agree with the hooks comment you made, I hate the A Day to Remember heavy-pop-heavy-pop thing. These choruses fit the mood of the song
Toro - ~1:37 is the ballsiest scream I've ever heard
Charmer - Excellent throughout, never even approaches boring (excluding the breakdown), which I find really rare with metalcore bands

Ha glad you feel the same as I do. This hasn't gotten close to old for me yet, which is a really surprise in the genre.
I loved Charmer and thought the djent sound really worked for Hellish, especially in the breakdowns.
I don't necessarily hate the ADTR formula, but if you're gonna do that and pretend it's metalcore, let's call it what it is: New Found Glory-style pop-punk
