I understand why you would think this album sounds like shit if you just heard it for the first time yesterday. And, truthfully, when it came out it wasn't really all that amazing either. But also, when it came out there were about 250 less bands doing this style than there are now. I mean, c'mon, you were like 12 or 13 when this came out, right? (it came out less than a year after Alive or Just Breathing, if any of you youngsters are looking for a reference point -- so let's not pretend like it was THAT much of a copycat/imitator).

I'm obviously not going to neg the review just because I don't fully agree with it -- it was well-written and you expressed your points (although with just a touch of bias).

In regards to their newer albums, they've progressed in regards to production, musicianship and an overall tightening of their sound. Whereas this one had the noisy, metallic-hardcore sounding songs, the melodic Iron Maiden-sounding songs and the slow spoken-word songs; their newer ones are more cohesive efforts (and have more clean singing of course). The main reason for this is that Tim and Jordan were the only actual members of the band when this was written/recorded (Tim actually recorded about 75% of the guitars on this) and the music was written entirely by those two (also, for those who don't know, Tim was the original guitarist in Society's Finest). Once they got permanent guitar players and started involving them in the writing process the musicianship went up a notch.

This one's just a little sentimental for me because these guys were some of the first metalcore I got into (after Poison the Well, KsE, Dillinger, Unearth and Bleeding Through).

I heard it in 2003 and it sucked then too.

Yeah but this style wasn't ever good. So it doesn't matter how many bands are playing it, it's always sucked.

I mean, c'mon, you were like 12 or 13 when this came out, right?

And?

(it came out less than a year after Alive or Just Breathing, if any of you youngsters are looking for a reference point -- so let's not pretend like it was THAT much of a copycat/imitator).

I'm pretty sure most people can read the "release date: 2003" so no one really needs to be told when it came out. Who gives a fuck when it came out it still sucks ass. Look at the Illusion of Safety; that album came out in 2002 and even though the sound on that album has been rehashed by thousands of bands that album hasn't lost any of it's power. Same as this album it sucked in 2003 and it still sucks now.

Review's lolworthy, in a good way though. I disagree with it, hence my rating, but that's my opinion and you've got yours. Lol at the comments with people quoting people's ratings: awesome, you don't like what they do therefore they're stupid. Fuckin' genius logic

This is getting silly

Thread is LOL. Same fucking puke kids who discovered this like a year ago and know nothing about metal AT ALL. Just accept this album/ band is crap and move on to better. Sorry to sound like an elitist, but it's truth.

I can honestly say that I listen to better music (and better metalcore) than AILD, no doubt about that. But that doesn't make them awful.

It's really hard to discuss about anything here for this thread is filled with 14 year old kids who think only 14 year olds can REALLY listen to this and are biased beyond description.

Also... someone mentioned Bleeding Through. I can safely say that This Is Love, This Is Murderous is ten times more generic than this.

I'd pos Inveigh's comment if I could. He knows his shit
