The blending of very different musical elements is definitely one of his strengths. People complained when he put a banjo-solo in one of his newer songs, but I thought it ruled.

that banjo solo was ridiculous in the best of ways imo. Finally listening to this now, and I concur with the blending of different styles. One second it's blasty second wave bm, then it's melodic bm, then bm with a tinge of folk melodies, then pianos and a mouthharp? Normally that'd be a bit of an overload for a non-prog band, but Taake pull it off fairly well, dynamic songwriting and all.

Part 4 is so sweet, that ending is a blast to hear live

Fave always seems to be whichever one I'm listening to at that moment

I've been meaning to check his discog forever. So far I find this to be more interesting that the first but both have been great.
