i dont think this is THAT dissonant
you can follow the key relatively easy

i take it you've never seen the score for this

this is actually a placeholder 5 tho i'm sure i've heard parts of this

and ok but who said dissonant works can't be orderly or structured, wasn't that the point of serialism

to put it simply
it might have dissonant qualities but theyre not so obvious that you notice them and get ear fatiqued

I found this uncompromisingly accessible.

I know this because I like it a lot.

just because it's accessible doesn't mean it's not incredibly dissonant though

true but naturally we humans are drawn to harmony rather than dissonance
harmony being therefore more accesible
but you obviously know this
just pointing it out

I

thought the point of being dissonant was to be inaccessible...

i meant accessible is relation to, say, a Webern or Penderecki piece

I thought the point of being dissonant was to be inaccessible...

the use of dissonance in this piece is to express the savage and primal tribal culture of ancient Russia, their dances used to worship the earth, as well as sacrifice and death. so yeah, it's gotta be pretty dissonant to provide a mirroring experience to the visual aspect of the ballet. it's not purely dissonant to be "inaccessible"

Part 2 is so awesome, love those first eerie minutes.
Stravinsky is the only composer that I'm really hooked on right now.
