Coming back to this after having heard their following three and I think this may still be my favorite, if only for how much more concise it is and consequently how much better it holds together as a complete album.

This is their best as far as I'm concerned.

It was almost exactly a year ago that I had a phase for them. Good times (really :P).

For some reason I always have the distinct feeling whilst listening to this album that I wish "double dare" was the hit and not "from a motel 6"

I Heard You Looking is made for a live setting - one of the greatest I’ve ever heard in person, but never does too much for me on the album

Hmm, respectfully disagree, that's one of my faves, prob the best of their longform instrumental/mostly instrumental closers.

Definitely check it out, it's an understated album but I think Yo La Tengo's best. More concise and consistent than a lot of their other releases, with great atmosphere.

Mmm I enjoyed Heart Beating as One, Nothing and Not Afraid a lot but those two points were my biggest issue with all of them. This bodes well...

For sure, that's always been my main complaint about the band. They always have at least a few classic tunes on each of their albums, but they can also never quite make a full album to perfection.

Yeah this one’s all killer no filler (ok except for the second version of “Big Day Coming”)

I actually think both versions of Big Day Coming are awesome in their own, to each their own
