this is my least favourite smith (still a 4)
how'd you find it?

Album Rating: 3.5
yeah exactly with you. it's very good but it's not fantastic. like a handful of songs a bunch. they trend towards the more upbeat power poppy stuff
|
| |
Yeah his weakest album but still contains some of his best material. Actually, XO might be his weakest, come to think of it, Idk they're close

XO is better than this, just had a more comfortable atmosphere - both are a lot more Beatles’y than his earlier stuff.
Not that that’s bad, just what it is.

This has grown on me a lot recently but Either/Or is clearly his best imo

Album Rating: 4.5
This is probably his most "grower" album, I actually listen to this one alot now. I'd say my least fave is Roman Candle by quite a ways, but he never released a bad album

Holy shit Pretty Mary k is a great song though

that's my least favourite song on here. just shows how insanely good this shit is. I mean Can't Make a Sound is very possibly the best song OAT

“Everything Reminds Me of Her” and “Better Be Quiet Now” are the best. Might like this a bit better than XO overall.

Nah, Sweet Adeline, Pitseleh, Baby Britain, both Waltz tunes....that album is very dubiously underrated on this site

The Waltz tunes top anything here but this is a tad more consistent methinks.

I think this one is a bit all over the place, XO fades away a bit on the second half I'd say is the biggest weakness with that one.
The middle stretch of this is not my favourite...in fact it is maybe my least favourite Smith run (otherwise probably a stretch of 'Basement'). 'LA' to 'Pretty Mary K' is patchy, I like the verses of 'Happiness' a lot though.

Hm, the weaker stretch starts at “Easy Way Out” for me but the last few tracks (well, excluding “Bye” which is just kind of there) make up for it.

This is Elliott's most polished recording, mix and master by far
