well I think the 60 songs thing has something to do with it. She’s recording a lot of songs over time and letting the best ones make the record, hypothetically.
I know there are some artists that prefer a faster approach, but I don’t begrudge artists for taking their time.
And you gotta consider the extensive touring she did after that album as well, it’s not like she went right to the drawing board the day Future Nostalgia released.
Idk I feel like I’ve seen this story a million times: artist quickly drops an album after their big break, and it ends up being an inferior version of the album before and it not only is instantly forgotten but it kills your career momentum. You could say a long break does the same, but I’m sure artists prefer “man when is Dua Lipa gonna release her next album?” over “I don’t care about Dua Lipa anymore.”

I don’t trust these modern age pop stars to be as creatively prolific as the Beatles. If she tried that approach it would fail.

also I kinda disagree that albums are less resource heavy than movies and video games. Maybe selling the medium short a bit, lol
There’s a lot more that goes into it than writing 12 songs as fast as you possibly can, AKA the young thug method

I hate when artists do this because I feel like most artists (or the record executives, whoever has the final say in the tracks that make the actual album) don't have a good grasp one which songs are actually the best. Carly Rae Jepsen comes to mind.

the only artist that can do that is taylor swift because she has the innate fanbase to support any Beatles-esque deluge of songs she puts out. And maybe King Gizz, tho i doubt they're making tons of money doing that either.

Pretty sure King Gizz operate on a very low budget, since they record and release everything by themselves, so I guess there's profit to be made.
I don't wanna imagine how many people are leeching and depend on Taylor Swift
