Catherine O'Hara Samuel L Jackson John Cena + title character Henry Cavill make Argylle Sortof worth looking at.
Agree that Chris Pine sucks though. Dude's terrible + I heard she got cast by fucking him because he's the "right brand of corrupt" or some nonsense.
This fad's over though. Barely ever hear this D List celebrity on the radio these days.

I don't understand how someone like Dua whose sound is so clearly the product of a large team of producers and writers and doesn't really benefit much at all from her specific presence or qualities takes 4 years to follow up the album that made her blow up. does she just not want to make music?

Wow a coherent relevant Colton comment wtf
I think part of it was Covid pushing back the tour cycle for this one (and her management wanting to make as much money off a FN tour as possible before moving into the unknown of the next cycle) but four years is starting to get a bit long in the tooth for someone at her spot in the industry. Lady Gaga had debuted, dropped three releases, changed the face of pop music and already started to fade from mainstream relevance in the same amount of time.

Just cuz you have a team doesn’t mean an album 1-2 years after your big hit isn’t gonna end up being rushed. The music business is complicated it’s not quite that easy. Look at Positions by Ariana, super forgettable follow up to Thank You, Next which was her big break.
And frankly Houdini sucks after 4 years of waiting so maybe it’ll still feel like a lame follow up.

It pretty much is a rule for all media that if you push out large scale content, like movies, albums and video games, every 1-2 years to make sure your audience stays engaged, the quality of your product will suffer.

I think quality is tangential to the question dear Coltie asked though, which is why Dua’s team isn’t trying to capitalise on the hype this served her by releasing another album posthaste.

I see what you’re saying but I really think someone like Dua could very easily manage more than 1 song in 4 years without a drop in quality. her songs are written by a large team of people anyway I’m sure

“It pretty much is a rule for all media that if you push out large scale content, like movies, albums and video games, every 1-2 years to make sure your audience stays engaged, the quality of your product will suffer.”
Except it’s really kinda not? Many such cases of artists going a decade or more in their most prolific periods turning out regular releases without a clunker in sight: Iron Maiden, Miles Davis, Tom Waits, Prince, PJ Harvey, Siouxsie Sioux, Charli xcx.
Music is honestly one of the least resource intensive art forms (really only beat out by the written word in terms of low barrier to entry, as opposed to cinema, video games, etc which require massive crews). The rate-limiting factors that apply to cinema just don’t have the same gravity when it comes to spewing out albums.
I don’t for a second find this a compelling argument as to why Lipa hasn’t put out more than a song in four years, sozzles.
