This album sounds deviant and anti social, after this they sound buffed up and MTV agreeable, led by an incredibly dull spiritualist fruitcake.
Technically it's all fine but totally bores me to pieces after the fury of this album

You' seem to be implying that Maynard made Lateralus all by himself. In fact, the other band members did a lot more work than him so idk what you're getting at here.

I'm talking about the direction of the bands attitude changing, the message they communicate, the vibe they transmit. I understand technically it's fine if a little less raw and menacing sounding.
Seriously read any of the lyrics on Lateralus minus Ticks and Leeches and tell me they don't read exactly like a new age meditation pamphlet. I mean some of the ones here skirt close but at least they're mixed up with some other stuff that you don't need to light a joss stick and sit cross legged in a darkened room to feel.

I really love his cleaner voice. He's such brilliant singer I approve of everything he's done minus Puscifer. In fact sometimes I largely prefer his APC voice.
