I get the 4s now. While this is a perfectly excellent album I feel like this could have just a liiittle bit more steam overall.

Agreed, it's not quite on the Sad Wings of Destiny level.

One of the most 4-worthy albums the band has ever made

Top 3 Priest tbh, just behind Sad Wings and Stained Class.

Sinner is the best opener ever.

For me ~musically~ it's probably top 1 (I'd almost add "easily" lately) but SC has the metallic edge so I'm still on the latter's camp

In an alternate timeline, Simon Philipps accepts the invitation to join JP and they become a jazz fusion band with a heavy edge

I think I'm feeling the rush of a possible unexpected 5. I can't get over Call for the Priest, the "with youuu by my siiiide" bit sounds like power metal to chill out to at the seaside. I feel like I never realized how Here Come the Tears is actually an album highlight (their most apocalyptic song?). Also the middle part of Raw Deal is like... 70s Korn hahah

As long as he keeps joining Toto 1992-2014 I'd follow him in any timeline haha. Unless Jeff Porcaro survives in that timeline, of course.

I'm going through the JP discography and honestly I like this a lot more than Sad Wings of Destiny.

I can see the high points of this one being better, but Sad Wings is way more consistent imo

Reverse that. This album is much better overall, every song is good, whereas Sad Wings has much higher peaks but is overall just kinda meh. Sad Wings is really held back by the first two songs.
