@Archael: I tend to listen to my favorite albums in bouts, with usually only one in rotation at a time. This one just hasn't been on rotation for a while (though I did listen to it the other day for the first time in maybe a month).

well in terms of the whole atmosphere and themes ive always found The Always Open Mouth by Fear Before to be hardcores version of this, and being a core kid i prefer it much more

also Kid A is ridiculously similar to this on the great scheme of things and i prefer that

"this is best album ever"

i fully expect to have totally different 5s in like 10 years time so i stay away from those sorta statements

I've jammed 'leaves turn', it's good but closer to something like Fugazi than Radiohead. Yorke is legendary on this album and that alone stands it apart from Unwound before you even drill down any deeper into the music.

There's no way Kid A is better than this one, this is far more cohesive. Though, in my opinion both albums are overrated. They are excellent yeah, but not as much as many people make them look.

lol how is there no way Kid A is better than this, it expands on the themes way more is nowhere near as generic and features less of Yorkes shitty crooning

"Are you aware that I was only 13 years old before I gave a fuck"
lmao

i don't see this album being anything less than a 3.5 (based on my rating scale anyways) thom has a beautiful voice, he utilizes it very well, for the most part the songs are powerful and varied, and even if they're not all unstructured, boundary smashing, genius works of art the skill of everybody in the band and the cohesiveness of all of it makes a lot of the weaker songs (karma police, subterranean, let down) better in the context of the album. really solid album with moments of genius.
