I don't actually hate it but it's intensely self-serious and goofy you might have a laugh

Sleep Token have a lot of 5/5 songs and a lot of 2/5 songs. The art is in making a playlist of the tracks that don't make you cringe, and baby you've got a star

"I discovered them with Sundowning and it was very much a "uhhhh do I like this?" album that somehow kept me coming back until I was lie "uhhhh I think I really like this"" [2]
Exactly my story with these guys. Part of me was even asking "Should I like this? I´m not sure I feel good liking this." But then I realized I´m too old to care if this is all a gimmick and a marketing operation in action. I just know I like the tunes, and that they move me.

Seriously, it's a different experience to listen to an album while browsing scorching Sput comments vs positive ones. There's a whole lot of metal purist goofballs on the web shitting on them for poppy elements when it works shockingly well in some instances.
Not getting crazy good impressions from this first listen past the singles we've all heard, but I might feel differently when I listen with good headphones tonight in my basement and without outside influence.

I don't hate this, and I love poppy aspects in my metal--like, I listen to a decent bit of power metal and mdm lol--but how they integrate it is just... bland. Not enough songwriting variety, very linear, and the vocalist gets in his own way far too often.
The bones of a good album are here, but nothing's built on top of it. Shame.

Yep, I had high hopes from the singles (though DYWTYLM and Granite bored me), but there's not much variety in the rest of the tracks so far.

Granite and The Apparition are evidence enough to not take this band seriously at all
