I just can't wrap my head around toondudes opinion. Periphery in my opinion has always managed to have a signature sound while still branching into new ideas and this album doesnt sound like any of their other albums. To each their own I guess.

wonder how much the length of this album decreases if you were to cut all the outros... gotta be like 8-10 minutes.

That's probably the only thing I totally dislike on here. Most of them feel like non-sequiturs and I think they last too long. Hated the one at the tail end of Crush on P4 and it's the only part of the album I skip.

i like the one that leads into thanks nobuo but yea the rest are pointless and im prob gonna do some audacity editing and trim/cut them all. ive read that it drops the album down to like a 61 min experience lol

I could take or leave the outros on the singles, although on the particularly heavy songs they are a nice palette cleanser. That being said the outro on "Thanks Nabou" is perfect. I can see that being their new concert closer because that was beautiful.

"I don’t think there’s any real debate on the amount of talent that Periphery have up their arsenal."

I don't know if this was an intentional mixed metaphor/pun, but I lol'd.

"Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre is the exact same fucking album as before."

After a first listen, agreed. This is a step back from PIV and kinda sounds like if ChatGPT wrote and composed a Periphery album.

doing some reading into this..... and apparently they did actually intend this album to be a juggernaut sequel but changed their minds half way through

explains why wildfire and zagreus have such heavy handed references to juggernaut while the rest of the album just doesn't lol

Incredible album. It's everything Periphery does best cranked to 11. Dying Star and Wax Wings are stunning. Still processing Fat Dracula and Thanks.

yeah I don't want to wait for my LP to get in so I'll just listen to it now

Wildfire - was already my favorite single, at this point that hasn't changed.

Atropos - honestly I've really come around about this musically. It really makes me nostalgic toward P2, and it's a pretty good vibe. I still think it's about three minutes too long though. A perfectly good upper-mid tier Periphery song.

also I've already heard Silhouette and, hot take, it's a banger
