Great album! Someone please tell me I’m not the only one who thought of YGOTAS during Up The Mountain

Finally jammed this, I am absolutely loving it. There's definitely some inconsistency, but my first listen has captivated me for most of its runtime. Her highs are dizzying enough to make any sort of "valley" more of a reprieve than anything. And those "valleys" aren't even bad, just less good lol

far > everything else
this is okay. i find some of it catchy and fun, and some of it downright annoying. like up the mountain could have been a way better song, but her annoying, overused "gotta get up there, gotta get up there, gotta get up there" drags it down. really liked it during the "slow-down" bit and the bridge. that "like it or not i am coming up the mountain bit" just completely fucking kills the momentum of the track though. a handful of the songs on here have similarly grating moments that sort of kill them for me, but i kind of have this issue with regina in general and despite how highly it's praised, it's the reason i can't really get into societ kitsch and downright can't stand it at times.

I think Up the Mountain is basically perfect, it's a thrillingly fresh pop track. That song, Becoming All Alone Again, and Spacetime Fairytale are the three I wouldn't change at all from this. Sugarman is also pretty underrated, as are Coin and One Man's Prayer. Basically, my only issue with this album is that the songs either hit or they don't. Raindrops, What Might've Been, Loveology, and Through a Door were all noticeable misses for me, and that's 40% of the album.

there's a section in up the mountain that i really love from like 3:00-3:20, when she sings "and another, and another" and it has that neat whispery layered effect to it. i love it when she gets experimental. i love the music in the track in general too, i just find that some sections are grating.

yeah that's fair enough, I just love it
if the whole album was wacky like that song, it'd be a 5 for me

Okay, i was not expecting that ending on Spacetime Fairytale. Loving the tap dance segment and the ideas that she uses in her transitions, the outros and the swells in general. Although her pacing seems so weird sometimes, it just.. works most of the time?

Soviet Kitsch is her best work and it ain't even close.

Oh my. That voice crack when she sings "forgive me-ology" has more personality and heart than most other pop musicians have in their entire discography.
I mean, disco-graphy.
Edit: I shouldn't call it voice crack as it's choice and part of her emotive way in expressing herself as an artist.

As far as I’m concerned, she has only had 4.5 and 5 albums. Very, very consistent. Definitely one of the greats.
