@dex my bad! I meant "no surprise" but I must have mixed that up, will edit, tx!
@Spirit thanks! Definitely go for Meliora before anything else!
@Anthracks heartily agree!

This might need some marinating time for me. Loved Prequelle but was a little uneven on first experience.

Great review. Don't really like the direction they are headed but what can you do.

Not sure how people would love their older albums and not like this, Im not too worried though since I love it. Also 20s isn't specifically about Trump, its about all the elites/leaders. The lyrics are purposely ambiguous, read reviews and people will tell you its about Putin as well since he is the current media trend.

After thinking about it a couple days, this is probably the worst Ghost album. I really like Kaisarion, Spillways, Darkness At The Heart Of My Love, and Griftwood, everything else I can kinda do without honestly. I have to agree about the critiques of the lack of sinisterness to it, it's all very jovial. I like some of the tracks, but it's definitely not a high point for the band by any stretch.

“Also 20s isn't specifically about Trump, its about all the elites/leaders.”
I’m not totally disagreeing with you but the lyric booklet has a big fat picture of trump on the Twenties page and there’s literally a line about grabbing hoo has. It’s at least partially about Trump.
And Griftwood is clearly targeting Mike Pence types.

I miss scooby doom vibes

my first thought when i listened to this was "new ghost is funky".
i liked it more on first listen than prequelle, but both are a big step below their first three for me. i also don't get the hate infestissumam gets, monstrance clock and year zero are such ass beaters.

what wildcard said. yes, you can say it's about others too, or what trump represents, but it's about trump and mocks several of his quotes

Liking it or not, there's no denying Tobias can write catchy songs with big choruses.
I have a smile on my face through the whole record, it's a win for me.

[2] I miss the more ambitious songwriting on Infest and Meliora but this rocks

I feel like this is spending way too much time on holding back the cheese and settle for a comfort zone and by doing that, it's conflicting with the strenght of this band and what these guys usually stand for.

What is people thinking of the new costumes btw? I honestly miss the old devils. The new ones look... strange.

I think they fit with the album covers steampunkish aesthetic.
I dig them. They’ve been wearing the same outfits since Meliora right? I think it was time for a change.

Agree about the image wash over, just expected smth more classy though. I guess it's just the mask, the suits are fine.
