The problem is not that this lacks percussion, but that he forgot how to compose ambient music. This thing is sluggy and clogged, and it's made with bad ears, there's nothing special to it, I'm 99% sure it's not even the best ambient release of the month.

"only thing about this that sucks is that "EP" is part of the actual title"

Agreed, when artists do that it's dumb

I think he put EP in the title because he puts out a lot of singles and hasn't put out an LP in fifteen years

Still looks like shit though

Well that's just poor planning on his part then

i sort of remember a lot of complaints back in the day, when the internet was thirsty for a third LP, over burial's use of the EP format cause people for whatever reason felt that they were bordering on LP lengths anyways or something (i never understood the complaints so i dont know how to articulate it, but i remember reading so many "why the fuck is this being called an EP just make an album"). far fetched but it could be a joke on his part to throw EP in the title idk

agreed ryus. im honestly more inclined to listen to something called an EP cause chances are it wasnt made with the mindset that you gotta stuff it with enough tracks to be an album aka filler.

if that was ryus' take octagon, he was on to something!

There's not really a whole lot of room for this thing to breathe, which is a little weird for an ambient piece. Coulda used every idea he had in here and expanded it a good bit and it would have worked better.

Enjoyed this, I wish they were more beats and that the vocals weren't so sparse though.

I feel that. If he'd cut the act out for even five minutes and inserted a track that draws from all the parts we love about kindred and its family, this would be a minor masterpiece.
