This made me check out ‘celebration of endings’ again and maybe I was too harsh on that record, it’s pretty good.
Ellipsis is still shit though.

Celebration of Endings is great! Cop Syrup is clearly the best on that one. It's like they took the foundations of that song and turned it into an album with The Myth of The Happily Ever After.

'God Errors' and 'Unknown Male' are the creative standouts here. A few passable numbers and then easily skippable stuff like Denier, Witch's Cup and the rather turgid Existed.
The vox and lyrics aren't anywhere near strong enough for that to be such a huge focus, a problem I've had with these guys for years. Still, both are mostly passable save for a couple of kiddie nursery rhyme moments. Way better than Ellipses, I'll give them that.

Had a go at creating an ideal album (same 11-track length) from Celebration and this one. For me, this would be a 5:
DumDum
North of No South
A Hunger In Your Haunt
Unknown Male 01
Tiny Indoor Fireworks
Existed
End Of
Weird Leisure
Witch's Cup
Denier
Cop Syrup

I want to re-listen to Celebration. I feel like I sort of brushed past that one after a cursory listen or two. I might have more appreciation for it now.

I'd probably say Cop Syrup is better than anything from this album, it's that good! Some gems on Celebration.

This is great, but I don't see it as being better than Celebration. Maybe it gives off that impression since the singles on this are heavier and arguably better.

"For all these reasons, The Myth of the Happily Ever After comes across my ears" This line feels super clunky.

That Wolf Alice album is probably my album of the year. Between that and this it’s refreshing to have some modern rock albums in my life again.

The Metacritic averages for both albums are a little bit out of control though, yeah.

Metacritic always seems extremely out of touch when it comes to music.
