Sure, I don't auto assume it'll be good. I also try (not always lol) not to auto-assume something is bad just because I don't like it. The respect comes back from Relatives in Descent, you know it...

'That song to me is aging, longing, and acceptance spun through a bizarre narrative about cranking one out in secret. The ending talking about his spouse almost looking like they used to in dim light is one of my favorite parts of the album.'
Yeah, that song masterfully moves through moods - becomes touching at the end

The worst thing about the album is I did the thing I hate which is listen to one of the singles in advance, the first song which is classic, and I now wish I'd played that for the first time as part of the album - because it is powerful, really blew me away first few listens. The album deserved that reaction on first play but obviously I was familiar with it so it came down to the more low key second track to make its mark first - which it did but not in the same way.
I should veto listening to any advanced singles of anything - detracts from a first full listen of most things.

To be fair, I'd usually wait for the albums release to check the singles but couldn't wait for this one. Bones still keeps blowing me away more n more.

"I should veto listening to any advanced singles of anything - detracts from a first full listen of most things." (3) There is nothing better than the first listen of a great album.
Kinda surprised people aren't immediately enthralled with Moffat's voice like I was. At the very least I would think some would come around after hearing the words that come out. *shrug*

the strap have always had a lot of people who don't get it (not saying that in any patronising way, i can understand it)
they are genius though, completely in a realm of their unique sound lyrically n sonically

everyone should listen to an arab strap album just like everyone should work in retail, gives you that level of scope
