I don’t know if it’s because I just don’t like this sort of music anymore, or if my nostalgia for their older albums is blinding me but I thought this album was okay at best. Some tracks are really great, but this sounds exactly like their last album

I watched a bit of the unboxing video on the YT channel and thought the song was from the album and thought they went stoner metal

8 albums in and they make their best work? Strange times indeed.

"Because this is slightly less mediocre than the one that came before it so I guess everyones gonna act like this one isnt mediocre too"
Still haven't spun this in full but the few songs I have, I enjoyed substantially more than any Seether song I've heard in the past. Which, to be fair, I've never enjoyed one, so it's a very low bar. So its more like "slightly less mediocre than every thing else they've released"

Goddamn is this actually good? Might check

It has some fun tunes but nothing special here tbh. I was expecting something better seing some hype around but in the end is another average album.

Yeah, it seems like it's one of those albums people decide is amazing just because it's not as bad as you'd expect it to be.

It's definitely not "amazing", but the musicianship alone is markedly improved, as is the songwriting. It apes late 90s Deftones and early 00s Chevelle vibes a lot and that's a pretty good sound to rip off. I'm also in the camp of having never liked this band before this album, I in fact used to ridicule this band when they first came around because of how weak their attempts at post-grunge nu metal were. But I dig this one, they sound far more mature and polished than they did when they were at their most popular. I'm comfortable giving this a 3.5

or, perhaps, it's because it's a legitimately great album.

Finally went through this. Easily most enjoyable Seether I've heard. I enjoy the atmosphere throughout the record, but most of these songs don't do a whole lot to stand out on their own. A song may be 90% bland and have one cool section that just isn't really enough to completely save it. The few highlights on here, such as Beg, Let it Go, and Dangerous are legitimately great tracks and certainly push this to a 3. I could potentially see this growing on me but I'm not very confident in that

This, Karma & Effect and Poison the Parish are pretty much the only Seether albums worth your time (IF you're into this brand of alt metal/post-grunge). And then a few songs here and there.

Tried listening to this again, and it’s better then I remember it being. The songwriting is much tighter, the lyrics are way less recycled, and it feels more consistent than previous releases. But, after finishing it there’s nothing to hold onto for me, whereas Karma and Effect had World Falls Away that blows me away every time I listen to it
