is it just me or does the opener not kinda drag on with it's simple chorus for way too long?

Think it’s consciously ramming home the message - plus guitar work is given high billing on this album
It’s almost like he’s going ‘Santana’ some of the time

Has this album not officially dropped yet? Why is it stillllll not on spotify?

It came out 2 months ago. For reference it’s under Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit on Spotify. And if it’s not there, maybe it’s just not available in your territory?

Listening to all the Drive-by Truckers songs written by Isbell now and he has really grown over the years.

@butt. He has credit for writing almost all the songs he sang on and possibly more

Returning to this for the first time in a couple months and oh boy is a great fall album
|
| |
This is growing off me a bit, definitely suffers comparatively to his previous 3 but it's still got plenty of that Isbell magic

Guess I never knew he sang on any of their songs, I’m only really familiar with their old stuff so I’m assuming Isbell features on the newer stuff?

Nah he was a member of the DBTs in the mid 00s, on Decoration Day, The Dirty South, and A Blessing and a Curse. He wrote and sang like 10 songs for them across that era.
And yeah this album didn’t really stick with me, strong enough because Isbell is never anything but that but it’s rarely gripping.

Wow apparently I know nothing

Lol, well if you came to Isbell solo later than DBTs I could understand not making the connection. But yeah that’s basically how he got his start, until they kicked him out for being a dysfunctional drunk at the time (obviously, they’ve made up since then now that he’s sober).
