Love the Phil Elverum and Elliott Smith comparisons in this thread because I thought of those two when listening to this as well, they all have a very specific brand of sincerity that is very endearing

im hoping this will grow on me, but i found this disappointing compared to his last album. almost every track was enjoyable but felt half-formed to me. i know thats kinda his style but i didnt feel that at all to be the case on rocket.

Something keeps me coming back to this guy every record and I'm always divided. Always some awesome cuts and then songs that just leave me cold or make no impression. Maybe an unpopular/lame opinion but I'd like if he just made a few more catchy, conventional songs like 'Hope'.
Better than Rocket but DSU is probably still my favourite of his.
