Someone probably already pointed this out but:

"La Mort de Marat" - True both this and Deathconsciousness make use of it, but there's literally a track on the album titled "Sisyphus" (See also: Voidz, the Deathconsciousness B-Sides collection) so I think there's fair ground for presuming Bird might be in-the-know.

Has this bird always sounded like this because it comes across very Father John Misty? Did he in fact inform Tillman’s approach?

Also quite similar to last year’s Jurado in places - a little bit of soul in the mix. It’s not bad on first impression.

this is more staid and generic indie rock chordz than i'd like based on one listen (reminds me more of David Gray than his previous output) but Bloodless and Manifest were great, the man can still whistle and he sounds proper aggrieved about something on this one so *extremely shrug emoji*

Haven't listened to him before, but this album at least lost my attention quick after the first two songs. Agree with the people above who said this sounds like a super super earnest Father John Misty but Bird's been around long enough I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that it's the other way around.

Lyrics seem good but the songwriting just did not grab me at all.

I find it funny that I’ve read multiple reviews of this, soundoffs, comments, etc. Not a single person has brought up the fact that the cover is stolen from HANL’s Deathconsciousness. Maybe that album isn’t as well-known as I thought?

Haven't listened yet....but this reviewer referring to the recent era of Andrew Bird as though its his peak(and saying Break it Yourself was really good????), makes me assume he's totally wrong, 2005-2007 was peak Andrew Bird, everything since then has been a boring mainstream version. I hold so strong to that opinion, and I assume you are crazy in the brain my boy, drinking some weird modern koolaid.

very nice album and the recording process seems to be most organic

pleasant listening troughout

however it's missing one hit single that stands out to promote and push the release
