Idk I have pretty nice headphones and it just sounded kinda quiet and muddled to me, but there's definitely something here, looking forward to listening to the rest tonite

Really liked what I heard so far, definitely reminds me quite a bit of Movements

That's something I felt too.

I'm in the middle of spinning this and I have that sinking feeling it'll be yet another act with good instrumentals and atmosphere undone by cheesy lyrics and weak vox

I feel like the lyrics and vocals are what hold it together. But that's probably my own bias because it caters to my niche.

yeah I'm that person you mentioned in the review who finds the lyrics melodramatic haha. vocals are competent but could use a little more grit and a little less mid-2000s post-hardcore whine

but musically, yes, this is pretty solid. drums in particular sound great

That's another thing that probably won't sit well with everyone but really hit me in the right area tbh, the mid-2000s post-hardcore style combined with the emotive, somewhat melodramatic lyrics is really a combination for success in my eyes.

I can be a bit pushover for melodrama and that's a big part of what makes this so good to me. The vocals aren't anazing but they do the job.

@projectfreak I thought the same thing about the drums. They really stood out, but not in an intrusive way.

I'm still going to see them this month. I hear they are good live. It's not a bad record, a lot of it just bores me. They can't cater to everyone I suppose, and for a first album it is well executed. I get the appeal.

@Durzo: Yeah, I checked some live videos. They kill it. Enjoy the show dude!

They're super tight live, they have several high quality live recording on youtube and they always kill it.

It's a good album, not great. They're at their best when they cut loose and go hard a bit.

@Scoot: Yeah, I'd say that adds to it. This is the first thing I've heard since I found The Elijah's "I Loved I Hated I Destroyed I Created" where I was able to add EVERY song to my emotional playlist with no regrets too so yeah.

Better than I expected you to take it, Kenbo. But I think the better moments are when they restrain themselves a little bit and let the atmosphere take over.

The whole album is restrained and that's what holds it back.

Nah man I'd say "A Godsend", "Wilt" and "Marigold" are like top three tracks here. This isn't a metalcore album, it's not meant to go hard all the time. Whoever put metalcore in the tags for the band is clearly buggin.
