No Line on the Horizon is marred by inconsistency. I dropped tracks 5, 6, 7 and 8 and threw Winter in instead. For me the record flows a lot better that way.

Elevation is cool yea
Winter sounds neat, I've probably heard it somewhere. Is there a compilation of some kind of No Line b-sides?

Winter was used in the movie "Brothers" by Jim Sheridan if memory serves me correct. I'm not sure if there is a B-side compilation for No Line but they did a film with Anton Corbijn called "Linear" that is loosely based on themes on No Line on the Horizon. Winter was included on that and I think its an alternate track list to the actual album.

I dont think there is. winter was like part of that linear documentary that came a long with no line and i believe is a bonus track on some editions of the album. I know theres like a remix album of stuff around this era called artifical horizon but im pretty sure all those songs are either on that album or the two before it
jesus this band has a fuck ton of music. and somehow ive heard all of it

I dig a lot of their b-sides from ATYCLB through HTDAAB to NLOTH. Is there any release that covers all the B-sides from this period or is it a case of piecing them together from various releases?

Well this band used to be really good, so I don't blame you. It's too bad they're one of those fallen legends now. Maybe they'll someday be interesting again, even thought I doubt it.

Well The Best of 1990-2000 has a lot of B-sides, even thought I doubt that No Line On The Horizon's sidetracks are included. Try out the deluxe editions

I can't find an official release of B-sides from this era onward, and apparently the version of Winter from Linear is superior to the one from Brothers, and one minute longer. I'm gonna check that one out.

When reading about the making of No Line on wikipedia, it mentions Winter being used in those films and that there were other songs planned, but doesn't say if they were actually recorded, or released in any other way, so who knows if there are others.

Just listened to Winter linear version. While it's not a bad song, I don't find it groundbreaking. It sounds like Rush Of Blood's Coldplay for the most parts.

I never did, I've read a lot of midly negative reviews about it arguing that it's a really frustrating record. I might try it out.

Zooropa is great, but a lot of people find it inconsistent.

Yep. A lot of critics emphasized on the fact that the band wrote good choruses but flooded them unto unecessary lenghts.
