I'd argue Seinfeld is a 90s sitcom, I believe it only spent like one year in the 80s

I'm more of a fan of the sound that he was going for on R+7 but I liked this for the most part; certain songs more than others. My favorite moment on the whole album is the last minute of The Station where he loops this guitar part like an arpeggiated synth and it almost returned to a sound he was going for on past releases.

But he really dropped the ball on the vocal tracks imo. They just didn't interest me, thankfully there's only 3 of them and the other tracks are pretty strong, although this sound isn't as intriguing as say Replica, GOD or R+7

^^ pretty much agreed with all that... there's a lot of ideas i like and a few astounding moments even, but it all feels so unevenly spread. frustrating!!!! it makes me miss how fully realized and cohesive his older work felt

I dunno how people can’t find ‘Same’ utter genius in how warped, funny, and just plain catchy it is

Like A-Ha put through a blender and transformed into a freakish classic ugh

So great following on from the equally excellent ‘We’ll Take It’ too

Also ‘Last Known...’ sounds like a faded ‘disintegration loops’ copy of Massive Attack’s ‘Exchange’ and is a minor delight

also everyone raves about how good Toys 2 is but I think it's pretty average compared to like the latter half of this album

agreed, the second half of the album is better, 5 worthy. The first half is excellent - 4 worthy.

I like both sides equally. I appreciate the world-building on the first half, the second wouldn't be as effective without those sketches.

i really couldn't care less about cohesivness between a song and the next... Daniel is such a cinematic composer every track, be it good or bad, interesting or not, feels like it can stand on its own just fine. The songs tell their own story each, fuck overarching narratives.

CD arrived today and the fucking case wouldn't open, so I couldn't even get the bloody CD out without completely snapping the case. So I did that and now I'm made and it's negatively affecting my opinion of this record.

Just finished my first spin of this and I liked it way more than the other OPN albums I've heard. The art pop tracks are the best but it's all really cool. The electroacoustic/folktronic and baroque aspects give it a really enticingly organic feel.
