*yawn*
Very disappointed. It's very average, imo. Nothing really stands out and nothing really catchy in there.
Nothing in common with Summoning at all. Summoning destroys this.

^ Whatever lol.
I just think that the differences between this and Summoning are the reasons why i don't like it.
Summoning is unique and if you remove what makes it unique, then you get average.

it's, uh...uniquely under-produced and cheap-sounding for a band with a huge following. like, I enjoy it but I don't get why people love summoning more than other bands of the ilk. most of it sounds like they gave Varg a legitimate keyboard in prison instead of a toy one.
|
| |
careful, people lose their shit over summoning and hipster-approved shitty productions
|
| |
Also, if you took away the crap productions they would be even better imo. Nothing wrong with raw sounding records but come on faen
|

the issue is that its all MIDI bullshit.

Ah but i didn't say anything about production.
Production is nice on this and it's pretty bad on most summoning albums.
But what i like in summoning is the atmosphere and the fact that the keyboard parts are really recognizable. Here, you have none of that and i'm not a fan of the female choir (they sing well but i think it doesn't really blend in well).
Sevengill: people love summoning because it's fuckn great, that's it :p
As for this, it's not terrible at all, some parts are really good. I just feel like i'm forgetting it as soon as i'm done listening to it for some reason. I'll give it some other chances, probably, because it got a lot of praise here but i'm not sure it'll change my opinion...we'll see ^^

Why does everyone in these summoning-clone threads have to constantly bring them up in comparison. They are so bitter that the students cannot pass the masters. Sorry hun summoning isn’t going anywhere they will never be surpassed by anyone or anything. Sojourner will NEVER have a tribute album dedicated to them cus they suck and will be forgotten in a couple years PERIOD.

“Winter’s Slumber” still jams. My metal SOTY so far
|
| |
It's weird but this grows off me the more I listen to it. Like I understand what they are going for but I don't think they are there just yet, specially the female vocals.

man, i find this band so by-the-numbers and forgettable, i couldn't even get through the first track
it's like you took everything about caladan brood (and by extension summoning) and made it bland and placid
i wasn't even going to listen to this based on me not liking the first one but then i saw dan swano mastered it but sadly even he couldn't save it for me

first track is dope and so far from bland ;[

sorry man, i hate it ]:
the issue is that its all MIDI bullshit.
i'm fine with midi bullshit, but my issue is bands that tread midi bullshit like it's some massive orchestra rather than some midi bullshit. summoning and caladan brood know exactly what they're dealing with and utilize it well. bands like this just don't.
