one of the best bands to come out of Ohio in the early 90s. I remember Matt from The National talking about trying to impress them at a basement show with his old band, but Matt's dad told Brainiac's bassist to shut up during the set and they left lmao

For the longest time I thought the album was “hissing pigs in static culture”

I suppose while I'm in this thread, what are some other essential 80s and 90s noise rockers? only really heard this group and JL so far

Oxbow, Shellac, Big Black, Polvo, SY, Unwound, Blonde Redhead, US Maple, Live Skull, Drive Like Jehu, Fushitsusha, early Melt-Banana (skip the first two tbh)!
Need to clear up this band, was gonna discog run em but then the debut put me off

oh yeah Oxbow and DLJ, heard them as well
can't speak for the debut but the latter two jam very nicely
|

cherubs, unwound and six finger satellite are reasonable additions to that list. Lotta math/noise crossover in dem 90's

Check out the Amphetamine Reptile label. Lots of good bands on there like Cows and Hammerhead.
