"G-guys stop liking our best album, it's so immature"

They also do little breakdowns on this album where screamed vocals would fit perfectly but instead he just sort of yells with like
some megaphone sounding affect on his voice(kinda lame). I think they don't want to be associated with all the post hardcore
warped tour bullshit out there, they've said in interviews that when they toured for I Am Hollywood they thought even then that they
didn't "fit in" with those bands and where generally unhappy about the tour altogether like they almost even broke up it was so bad.
fuck editing fuk

The outro to I Sleep Just Fine sounds so god damn bad, thanks for ensuring that i will never scrobble this song lol

Its just the effect they layer on. Otherwise it would be a perfectly good outro to the song. I hope Schuylar changes his mind in the future. There are spots where his scream would enhance the song tenfold. I still think he physically blew his voice out in between I Am Hollywood and Suck Out the Poison. He sounds tired and weak in SOtP whereas his voice was strong in IAM.

"He stated in an interview around the time It Hates You came out that he thought screaming was 'immature' and basically said it takes no talent."

This is an album of the year contender, for sure.

I think the guy from Dead Poetic said the same thing after New Medicines, and they both came out the same year on the same label. Something in the water at early 2000's Tooth & Nail?

Though DP basically died after their singer stopped screaming, and HIL has somehow stuck around

That dead poetic album was awesome like they had everything going for them. I couldn't believe how much they sucked when I first heard the album after that.

ugh that guitar tone on miserable company is so good

First two songs are strong, the rest I've heard are just decent. I Sleep Just Fine is a great song until the outré, and if Schuyler had screamed over that breakdown it could've been an album highlight.
Also Vices is by far the best thing Dead Poetic ever did.

back at ya dude, trying to get back more frequently. How've things been? I always remember how much you loved Chevelle when you first joined years ago lol

"That dead poetic album was awesome"
New Medicines? Hell yeah, I love that album. They fell off pretty hard after that, unfortunately. He just didn't have a strong enough singing voice for them to be a clean singing only band, and that 'yell' he did to try and compensate for not screaming was not so great. Musically, I thought it was pretty good still.
I liked the way he sounded on SotP. I thought that raspy quality was a nice addition to his voice for the sound they had going.
