Yeah idk, I like his voice on the later MMJ albums I’ve heard but here it sounds like he’s straining a lot of the time. The stuff he does toward the end of Wordless Chorus is borderline “lol” material.

lonesome crowded west was a tad better.. not like it's bad music.. but squarely not for me.. little gutless and prissily pseudo-intellectual, but that's the later 90's indie scene..

I get that this probably isn't butcherboycore (much like Modest Mouse or Built to Spill). if you want, I'll try and find you some oldschool indie stuff that might actually be up your alley, unless I don't know you as well as I think I do.
