I have to say that this record isn't bad... its just... Its kind of boring. Hard to listen through the whole thing in one shot, makes me sleepy. The instrumentation is solid, I wish the vocalist gave a more emotional performance, it feels so subdued. I really like "Most of the Time" though.

it may grow on you. the whole thing to me sounds really apathetic and that may be why i like it so much

just got this album and I love the care the band put in the songs. every song I've heard so far has such a good climax: reminds me of Sights and Sounds' Monolith

edit: nvm, you're right. that made no sense

SO much better in the winter, everyone should listen to this and maybe give it another try. Textbook example of a grower album for me. At first I only liked Most Of The Time and Daydreaming but felt that the vocals were too monotone and the drumming boring. Yeah, well, I guess I like being this wrong. The vocals are perfect, especially if you keep in mind the dichotomy of the rather upbeat music and very melancholic lyrics. The drums aswell are a perfect example of not overplaying and are perfectly mixed so you might not notice how intricate they are at first. I didn't in my first listen and I'm a drummer...
That said, if this album would've been released 20 years ago, they'd be one of the hugest bands ever.
