the serpent wasnt at all breaking out of the mix, they went from solid metalcore to lame (even more generic) pop metal. this album at least had some substance to it

The majority of The Serpent was poop. Avalanche was pretty cool though. Intro reminded me of Decapitated.
This album rules. Solid metalcore. My favourite is probably Blossom, The witch.

The keyboard laden breakdown in "I Can't Revive Him" is the definition of fucking epic. Just the symphonic solo before the breakdown fills me with man power.

The keyboardist used to do crazy ass headbanging at gigs. He was awesome. The main reason for the poorness of The Serpent was the fact that half the band that were on this had left by the time they came to make The Serpent.
