excellent review matt. yeah it's long but I felt that not a word was wasted; it reads really smooth. a well-deserved pos from me. I haven't listened to this and probably won't but I bet it's a 1. fuck Nickelback.
"Also, isn't that the steam clock from Vancouver's Gastown on the cover?"
yes....fuckers, associating the greatest city in the world with the worst music in the world.

All in all a good review Matt, but I'm gonna agree with porch on why Kroeger really shouldn't give a crap. I mean, he's found a winning formula indeed, and while you can beat down the formula itself as much as you like, it's weird to criticize Kroeger for not changing it when it obviously works so well. Normality is death? More like normality is profit in this case.

Wow, fantastic review. that was a great read, and it's obvious you spent a lot of time on this; it paid off.
I noticed two grammatical things you may want pointed out:
"Here and Now much like “When We Stand Together’’s humanitarian message,"
I'd put a comma after Now.
"it also isn’t anywhere near as bad as the tracks that proceed it."
You're talking about the first song, and by this sentence you would be talking about songs before it, instead of after, if I'm understanding correctly.
Overall, fantastic. Pos!

Thanks everyone =]
Magnus: Fair enough my friend. I know that it might be an odd angle, but with all of the animosity towards them as of recent (barring the recent petition) I would have expected a somewhat improved album. I mean, sure his formula is a winning and profitable one so it does make sense that he wouldn't change it, but at the same time I think changing the formula up a little bit would only service Nickelback in a positive way both critically and commercially. As it stands they're one of the biggest stadium rock bands of all time, but there's a way to approach their genre that's both creative and readily accessible for the masses. Anyways, thanks for the input.

Aptly written, pos.
I don't reside in the States, yet i can grasp how this band is a plague for the American music lovers.
In my country too, we have commercially acclaimed "artists" that should have quit doing music long ago.-

First of all, I listen to a lot of different music. Some of my favorite bands are Dark Tranquillity, Paradise Lost, Scar Symmetry, Type O Negative, Tool, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd. Nickelback is not one of my favorites, but I think they are a decent radio rock band, no more no less. What I don't understand is why everyone hates them so bad. They aren't a bunch of assholes and I don't remember them doing anything negative to anyone. I actually think the lyrics to some of their songs are really good and have a lot of meaning. They have a lot of songs that I would even go as far as saying they are timeless. That's why they appeal to so many different groups of people, such as me. I definitely laugh when I read all of the posts on here, don't get me wrong, but I just don't understand the hate. It seems like everyone just picked "Nickelback" as the band to hate with no reason. Oh well, to each his own, but I will definitely be picking up this album.

Fantastic review! I share Magnus' opinion on this. You don't change the formula when it brings you a lot of profit. I'm sure their fans will be pleased with this album, while others will just want to kill themselves while listening to their new single on the radio.

clercqie: "It dragged a bit towards the end, but all-in-all nice work : )" Yeah, I might go back and do some editing to condense it a little.
OmahaStylee94: Thanks dude, and you're right about the first suggestion - that comma would help that bit flow better. As for your second suggestion, I think you maybe thought I used the word 'precede'?
Cheers Voivod.

Darkwatch: Fair point, to be honest - I actually addressed it in the review itself. Nickeback probably isn't as bad as we all make them out to be, but this time around it's the misogynistic advocacy that really puts me off. The 'metaphors', as Kroeger calls them, are pretty blunt and offensive.

Also Aids, you know I like you, but in no way shape or form is Vancouver the worlds greatest city lol

Awesome review, pos #58.

Yeah, I agree that there are a lot of people out there who love this band - hence, like you said, their staggering sales - BUT! Those people are just silly. Also, I so did not expect to wake up to that many pos votes... holy.

This band is like the ultimate anti-radiohead

Album Rating: 1.0 | Sound Off
I mean, it's really hard to argue that what this band has done is anything less than extraordinary. Seriously, they've made millions upon millions off of one motherfucking album. They've really raped the worst parts of the modern music scene and made the most out of it. I can't even comprehend their writing process.
As much as I hate to admit it, Cheno has a point. Going to neg his profile now.

Aside from the record sales, their live shows regularly sell out in every location. Nickelback really isn't hated outside of the internet. Not even close being "universally" hated. 50,000 people signed an internet-wide petition? Big deal. That's not even the amount of people that will be at the stadium attending the game. There will be ~25 million viewers watching. Stop thinking the thoughts of a few internet users represents even a sizable minority of the population.
