weird-chord-wielding
Thought you had written "weird-chode-wielding" there for a second and got excited.
Good review Phleb. Not as amazing as your Radiohead, MCR, or Susan Boyle, but still solid all round.

"Yeah, I'm just saying that the low rating here is more to do with a bunch of people thinking it's great, rather than classic, instead of a group who actively dislike it. "
yah that's probably true

I can't tell about this...
I'm not a fan of the acoustic CD, it feels weak to me. I still need to buy this before I'll rate it though.

Excellent review but I disagree that this is a childish album. I'm a huge fan of concept albums, so perhaps because of that bias I seem to overlook some of the album's flaws. However, considering you're sick of the storyline and the somewhat gimmicky ending of "White Oak Doors," I completely understand how you could see this album as childish.

"I feel like the musical quality of this record (especially the drumming) alone saves this from being categorized as "poor". And I think you probably agree with me deep down, but you just wanna be that guy."
Came to post. I feel like Phlebas genuinely isn't impressed with this album but I'm also fairly sure that this is rated way more harshly then it would have been had so many people not 5'd it right away.

Probably half a point because of the soundoffocalypse that occurred immediately after it dropped. Never thought it was good, though.

You think childish, irrevocably unbalanced albums with bilge lyrics written at the level of teenage girls diary entries, half-hearted melodies, forgettable musicianship, embarrassing affectations and silly quirks are good?
|

I disagree with most of this with a passion but its well written. Pos. And this was needed.
