It's like listening to death metal and then listenng to rap a few minutes later. You listen to them in completely different ways. You look for different things. Completely different. And they have talent in completely different ways. That is my best explanation for this album. This album is incredibly different. Not just from any Cryptopsy album, but from a lot of technical death metal in general.
A thing I really enjoyed about this album was how well they did at building up a song before just exploding. For example, Carrionshine, up to the point where Flo does the double blasts. The brutality in specific sections like that is amazing. Even though many disagree, I think the production only enhances this album.

Maybe Worm didn't have par vocals on this album. In fact, I don't know what happened to him. But I was very impressed with his high pitched screams throughout the album. His gut spilling low growl may be gone, but he's still got the scream.
Iliketoplaydrums is right, you have to look past Worm's vocals. And again, this album took a very long time for me to get back into it.
I can see why you could dislike this album, I know where anybody would come from with that, but to see so many users at this site actually almost despise the album, it surprises me.
Anyway. Peace out nuckas.
And also, why can't I make longer comments? It won't let me.

Saying that there's no possible way for it to grow on me was a little stupid, obviously I could get used to it over time. It does have instances that I enjoy such as Carrionshine or parts of The Pestilence, but overall I couldn't get into it. In the end the thing that disappointed me was that the riffs didn't catch my attention and the overwhelming chaotic feel is gone, which were what made Cryptopsy so much better then other death metal bands.
I don't despise the album. It has it's moments, but overall I don't think it's that great. The vocals were another aspect of the band that held them over other death bands, so when Worm's voice changed to this, it had a huge impact on what I thought of them. It's hard to look past the vocals in this situation. This Message Edited On 12.24.05

I'm editing the part about the production. It really doesn't bother me.
The character limit on comments really needs to be longer.

I listened to "Adeste Infedelis" on their MySpace.
It was horrible.

I've grown to really like the music.
Unfortunately, the video for The Pestilence was laughable. Plus Eric has dreads that make him look like he was in Korn.

It's fun to listen to... I have to be in the right mood for it though. However, I do agree entirely with your pros and cons. The main reason I started and continuing to sparsely listen to Cryptopsy is for Flo Mounier... and I'm Canadian, as are they so... ^_^

in all honsetly i liked this album but before people hate me this was the first cryptopsy album i had ever heard i thought it was cool and sorta all over the place in ways i highly enjoyed it and then after i got a hold of "None So Vile" i realized there was deffinentley a change but as a fan of death metal i still enjoyed this album highly even though its a diffrent step from there previous/better work oh and a side note everyone complains about the guitarist on this how he isnt god as previous guitarist Jon Levasseur well in all actually every song on this alum was written by Jon Levasseur exept the first track so i look at it that cryptopsy was changing up there style a bit

i read in an interview that lord worm was trying to cross his style with disalvo. so maybe that didn't turn out too well.
i only heard pestilence, but i like it. nothing compared to none so vile's stuff, but still good.

This album is awesome. Its probably my second favorite after None So Vile. Flo is a monster.

Looking at their picture's now, I can't help but think. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED? However, I must admit the song Worship Your Demons is pretty killer. But c'mon.

way more filler than needed and the songs start to blend together (not in a good way) around the halfway point.

Vocals are abysmal, but I'm liking some of the instrumentals on this. "Angelskingarden" probably stood out the most after only one listen.
