yea it's odd, it would work if their name was a palindrome. I guess they were going for the Metallica M and A

This band sounds almost identical to Periphery, Fellsilent, Textures, etc. The ambience, the melody, the groove riffs... it's all the same.

I don't know what the reviewer is talking about when he says the production is immaculate. The atmospheric parts sound better than ever, but the heavy parts sound weak and thin thanks to an awful guitar tone. Their demos sounded way better than this, and Periphery's debut blows it out of the water in terms of production and guitar tone.

Hearing the full song here is a truly disappointing experience. Compositionally, this is a total mess - the atmospheric parts don't flow into the groove parts at all, and it sounds totally random. There is no theme or motive holding this whole song together - it just sounds like a string of pieced together ideas. Compare this to the longer tracks by Meshuggah, Textures, and Periphery, and you will see that it's nowhere near being on the same level compositionally. Considering that the band has been rewriting this song for years, you'd think it would be much more polished. Instead, it's such a random mess it makes the last Opeth album sound somewhat coherent. There's no flow or excitement here, and while the atmospheric parts are absorbing enough, the heavier sections don't have their intended effect thanks to the weak production.

Why all of the comparisons? Because we've heard most of these riffs 15 times before from the other bands I mentioned. They all sound so similar at this point that I can't even pinpoint which band a given riff came from. This sound was really awesome the first few times it came around, but at this point, TesseracT simply waited too long to release their stuff - they may have been cutting edge when they first wrote this stuff, but they sound downright redundant now.

For all of the people saying this is better that Periphery - on what grounds? Yes, the vocals are better, but they're still not fantastic. The composition and production are miles behind Periphery. I don't think Periphery's album was super cohesive or flowing, but this possibly has even less flow and it's supposed to be 1 song instead of a collection of 14.

yeah at least bulb can play, don't really see any instrumental ability here. just chugging, stilted structures and overused octaves. i say wait a year for this whole djent fad to wear off and we all look back and realize the whole genre is synonymous with a few cool ideas and terrible songwriting.

im not gonna, i like this new guys vocals. he's got a really good voice, especially when ur comparing him to periphery's vocalist. the dude from periphery has such a nasal voice and his harsh vocals suck at their best. but this dude has a more pure voice as and his harshes aren't great but they get the job done imo. i will say i miss certain traits the band had on their demo, like the saxophone part and certain different things that kind of gave them a little more personality but this is still good. great review btw, pos

I've given this thing a spin or two, and I can honestly say I'm impressed. I really dig the vocals and the atmosphere is huge and spacious. Overall, not bad at all.
