From the man that brought you the guitar on Creed, douche rock's most celebrated band....comes Alter Bridge, a band that is almost as classicly douchey as creed themselves!

Horrible mainstream trash.

Seriously dude?

Maroon 5 is classic (at least Songs About Jane) and Hoobastank is a pretty solid rock band.

So....there.

Yeah I need to go back and rate Maroon 5, they had some great stuff.

Honestly, I can't remember what was really going through my mind at the time, but I remember the feeling this cd gave me and it was not nice. Perhaps I'll revisit it.

From a purely objective standing, this is nowhere even close to a 1.5

Tremonti is rather awesome. Myles....eh, debatable personally, but he can sing better than most.

Myles Kennedy is the best component in this band for me, but as you know I'm not big into them. I'm actually a huge fan of his just vocal-wise, can't wait for his solo stuff.

Anyone who feels that this album is lower than a 2.5 isn't a fan of hard rock, and anyone who gives it over a 4 probably has strong personal attachment to it. I feel like the majority of votes would fall around a 3-3.5.

I could check it's rating, but I don't feel like navigating away from what I already typed.

I am not a fan of mainstream rock or hard rock. I question your definition of objectivity. I came at this album from an unbiased standpoint and really had no idea what to expect. And I hated it. There's no collective way of viewing this album, seeing as it is decidedly mainstream rock. I listened to it again and I still did not enjoy it. The total production isn't bad which is why I give it the .5, but I cannot stomach this record, the vocals or the music.

Ties That Bind didn't even jump out at you? That's a very attention-grabbing opening track.

Ties That Bind was one of the best moments, surely, and Blackbird is indeed quite epic, but they're too little special moments for me. On a 3 right now.

Wait so are you saying that all mainstream rock is the same? I said I generally don't like mainstream/hard rock. This isn't true with all cases.

I said I hate the music and vocals in defense of you questioning my opinion. I can't take you seriously when you say anything under 2.5-3 for this record, you can't take seriously(BECAUSE OF HIS LEVEL OF SKILL). Yngiwe Malmsteen is very skilled, but that's irrelevant, because his music is not good and his soloing has no expression, it's just about showing off. And vocals are completely subjective. You can't tell me that it's ridiculous to give this a 1.5, because you like the vocals or they have technical skill. Jon Bon Jovi has technical skill as a vocalist, but...well if you like Bon Jovi...

And you were the one who posted my soundoff(my 4 month old soundoff) on this thread. Now, by saying that if I don't like mainstream rock, I shouldn't criticize this record or even express my opinion, you are suggesting that this band is the same as all mainstream rock bands. Do you really believe that? I never really said that, did I? And I too have a distaste for metalcore, but I think Converge are amazing.

You're pigeonholing a band that you gave a 5.

Of course I expect people to disagree, but I don't enjoy having my musical views questioned.

That's really all I have to say.

Honestly, I shouldn't have responded to your first comment, I should have just ignored it, I admit I got a bit riled up when I saw your soundoff, I didn't stay there long enough to see when you posted it either. But you've been respectful here in the thread, so I apologize for turning this into a debate. When someone posts in my reviews/lists I usually respond, in this case I shouldn't have.

I'm honestly trying not to look a fanboy that won't hear criticism on a band I like. I have a much more fanboyish view on this band/album than even the review or comments I've left indicate, but I'm trying to be objective about it. And I'm not trying to question or compare music taste, obviously ours are quite different. Obviously this is going nowhere, so I don't want to argue anymore.

To be honest, my soundoff is very immature. I'll probably change it to something more constructive when I get the chance.

Nice chatting with you.
