Kerry King even admitted in an interview that he doesnt bother to play in key and that he randomly plays notes as fast as he can. I still love slayer. Shitty guitar solos are only a minor set back. This Message Edited On 09.11.05

If you play a ****solo fast enough it will still sound good to anyone who appriciates metal.
My favorite is "Alter Sacrifice"

um....not really. I appreciate the guitarists who take time to create amazing riffs and solos not just playing really fast. Good guitarists can not only shred fast but also take time to make music. This Message Edited On 05.30.06

I appreciate metal, and vehemently beg to differ with that statement.

I honestly dont believe that Kerry and Jeff's solos are meant to be looked at as something beautiful or amazing, like something Jimmy Page might do...they're meant to be just like the song: chaotic and frantic. Which is why I love them so much.

Ah, si senor. Mucho gusto.

I think the term "Whammy-Bar Dive Bomb" has been used to describe the way they begin to solo...which is perfectly accurate, as 98.9% of the solos they do start off that way.

Let's just all agree that Slayer is more about the riffs then they are about solos.

Yes, but no solo in a Slayer song = Me being pissed off cause they seem to fit so perfectly, that without one...I feel lost.

I guess it's just something that's expected. Every Slayer song needs a break followed by a simple punk-rock beat and whammy bar abuse.

I think this album is great, but the solos turn me off. Kerry uses the whammy almost every solo, and they have (almost) no order to them. If the songs were longer and changed tempos here and there I think this would have been better.
