Ugh, people have always told me that Dissection was overrated, and I always wondered why. Now I know. Sure, these guys have a lot in common with Dissection: musical genre, location, and Dan Swano. However, these guys are certainly not a clone of Dissection. In fact, as far as albums from different bands in the same genre go, I think Far Away from the Sun sounds far different from Dissection's first two releases. I don't really hear any classic metal influence, nor does this release have any of the quieter clean sections in the middle of songs that Dissection's albums have.

I won't deny that Dissection's initial release(s) probably inspired these guys, but come on, Far Away from the Sun definitely stands on its own.

Yeah, I bought it from German amazon, but though I ordered it on the 17th, it's apparently not supposed to get to where I live in Maryland until Valentine's Day!

I ordered it on the official Napalm Records website, it shipped from Austria, and arrived at my house on the west coast of the USA in 5 days.

Just read your post about these guys and Dissection too, which made me remember that the reissue of this comes with a cool little 3 or 4 page interview with Anders and Nicklas at the end of the lyric booklet, and they talk about their inspirations and how they used to all hang out together and party together and stuff. Although if I remember correctly Anders did say that they stripped all outside influences when writing this and just wrote whatever came naturally I guess.

Really? That's a really short time... I've had packages from the U.S. itself take a longer amount of time than that!

Yeah, I'm far from any type of expert when it comes this stuff, but I do have a very good set of ears.
