you're a moron
lamentable genres? dyou know anything about musik?
|

so you say theyre bad because theyre 'folk rock' and 'indie folk'
but theres nothing 'folk' about them
wat
|
| |
just because they're terribly mislabeled, which I agree with, doesn't discredit the music of the Decemberists in any way.

this album is amazing, these guys are freakin' kick-ass storytellers, the mariners revenge is one of the most epic songs i have heard in a while, of course i do have a fascination with nautically themed works and vengeance so my opinion could be a bit biased...i also love the infanta, 16 military wives, and the sporting life, definite highlights of the album

album grew on me, The Decemberists are fantastic

I will be seeing the Decemberists for the first time in July and really hope they play The Mariner's Revenge Song. So epic.

I know you all know this already but On The Bus Mall is really gorgeous. It's probably the best song about two male prostitutes in love ever.

The decemberists discography is kinda hit and miss but this album is their high water mark and really if there's a better record about the high seas, ghosts, revenge, serial killers, and of course lost love I would like to hear it.

i love this album. 'the engine driver,' 'eli, the barrow boy,' 'on the bus mall,' and 'of angels and angles' are all so good

This is such a fantastic record, and their only truly unflawed one in my opinion. As much as I like their recent and more straightforward orientation, to this day this stays for me their defining statement, both lyrically and musically

Fucking awesome record, though I do prefer The Kind is Dead (seriously)

I believe you; it took me quite some time to get used to the different approach of The King is Dead, but it's such an anthemic and emotional record
But to me their quirky folk direction and grotesque imagery spawned so many classic songs

Definitely, I had this one 5ed for a while. Individually this has their best songs

I so wish I could see them live someday; anything from this record would make for an absolutely astonishing performance

I was lucky enough to see them twice this year, and between the two they played 3 or 4 from this. Needless to say, they are awesome live.

I missed them this year, but yes I've seen videos and they do look quite friendly and amazing. Also Colin's vocal performance seems to have improved considerably over the years, although his voice only really bothered me on their debut.
