Probably the best thing Metallica released during the 90's. Lots of good songs on both discs, however, there is some filler. Best tracks- Sabbra Cadabra, Whiskey in the Jar, Tuesday's Gone, The More I See, The Small Hours, The Wait and So What.

"Turn the page" and "the small hours" are my favorites on here.

closely followed by "sabra cadabra" and the "Mercyfull fate" medley.

Someone said here the Mötorhead-section does not provide much dept; which is rather trivial, you do not listen to Mötorhead for the depth haha

second disc is awesome

of the first idk, Sabbra Cadabra and Loverman just don't feel right in the hands of Metallica. a solid, fun collection of covers though

it's funny, but i think metallica's take on loverman is almost identical to NC&tBS'. it definitely lacks a certain amount of atmosphere compared to the original, but performance-wise it seems like a complete copypasta.

i haven't listened to this in a long time. i remember astronomy was my favourite track.

" Don't ask me who I am. I know who I am - do you know who you are? "

sounds familiar but i can't place it... think it's Tropic Thunder

I don't know, Loverman sounds a lot more Metallica-like then the original

none of the arrangements have been changed as such, it's just a strange composition with Metallica doing it. I guess i'm just too used to the brooding intensity of the original so it kind of sounds funny to me with an ex-thrash metal hard rock band with a guy with a voice like Hetfields singing it, idk

edit: @piglet

probably thanks largely to hetfield's smokey murmur

it's just that even his adlibs are identical to cave's, you know?

King Diamond didn't sing in Diamond Head... Sean Harris sung the vocals on "Helpless" and any pre-All Will Be Revealed album/work.

Whiskey in the Jar will forever be linked in my mind to replanting farms in Age of Empires 2...................don't ask.

I mainly bought this because the earlier garage days went out of print. The only thing I dont like about garage inc is that metallica was covering popular songs like turn the page and tuesdays gone. Although I will say that the obscure stuff like astronomy, free speech and it's electric are pretty good far as the newer cover go. However I didn't really care for the motorhead covers no one has that magic like Lemmy.
