Oh, anyone actually bought/considering buying the actual CD?

Absolutely; when I can find it!

You can get it for eighteen euro's if you email the Aftermath shop about it, and it's well worth it,

Dude, thats going to pan out to be about $38 Canadian. No album is worth that much. You can probably find it cheaper somewhere else!

Dude, its $11.99 at the Omega Store online. I will gladly pay $12 plus $3 shipping. I would advise doing the same. Even though you live in Europe, your overall payment would be so much cheaper!

eighteen euro's = £13, which is only £3 more than what I usually pay for a CDThis Message Edited On 02.26.08

Thats right you guys use Pounds as your currency hahahaha. Duh! In that case, it would still come out to about $30 Canadian still. I would cancel and order from the States! If its 11.99 and $3 for shipping (maybe more in your case), than you would still only be paying 5 or 6 pounds max!

I am far too lazy to cancel after already having an email conversation and paying for the item, besides, if it makes the band a bit more money I don't really care.

Well, as for the fifth track, it is oddly Grind Denial instead of Grand, so my other comment about it was complete and utter BS :lol:This Message Edited On 02.26.08

Give this another couple of weeks and this might improve to a 5, the last track is seriously growing on me after really paying attention to the lyrical concept between it and The Black Lodge.

This is an amazing debut... thumbs up to these guys.

Good review, I checked this out and am grateful that I did

And yeah, when I relisten to each song I can find things that I somehow missed on the previous listens, it's fun to discover those little bits :D

You have to buy the CD to get the lyrics, they aren't on the web anywhere, on the whole, they're pretty decent, nothing special though, it also seems that there is a bit of a connection between songs 3, 5, 7 and 8, I don't know if they've done that on purpose, the black lodge is centred around a girl called Julia (as is the last track) drowning herself, but it mentions the grind denial.

Past October Skies is sort of like the aftermath to that song, and grind denial has something of a link with TBL although I wouldn't have guessed if it didn't mention it, the reason why I think In the failing hour is linked in all of this is because it also mentions a 'She', if that is Julia or not I don't know, but the lyrics are quite interesting.

The guys clean vocals are just atrocious. He should not be singing at all. That fact right there already makes this a 4 to maybe a 4.5. I've listened to this about 3 times now and I will most likely pick it up when I find it. The music and growls are exceptionally well done though.

To Crimson: Yeah, that was to you, I like his cleans, their kind of simple, stripped down, I like the sound.

To Josh: Totally agree. I really don't understand when I see/hear people say they don't like Mikael's cleans, they're some of if not the best cleans I've heard in metal, at least as far as fitting into the music. His singing on Benighted and Leper Affinity in particular is just...well perfect. This guy's no virtuoso, but he's solid, and yeah, his growls are quite compelling. This Message Edited On 02.27.08

Im glad I read your review, I thought "no way a debut album could be this good", one listen to "The Black Lodge" changed all that. Very nice review.
