Yeah, especially since other "publications" are throwing it around now. I didn't hear these bastards saying that shit when Bride of Usher came out. Its all good though.

Also, check it out, further proof that JM has been channelling the Smiths ever since the 2nd LP:

"Joyce Manor's 2nd full length emerged after weeks in a dimly lit, hazy recording session with producer Jack Shirley. The few surviving witnesses reported having heard extended jam sessions, which purportedly included a savage 16-minute medley of "Smothered in Hugs" and "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" among other hellish dirges"

that being said, i dont think the smiths influences are too blatant on this new album. I only noticed them outright on 2 tracks and because I was looking for them.

heart tattoo is cool cuz its one of the punkiest songs on here.

kris do you prefer s/t or Of All Things? if you were hoping for a return to the punkier JM you might be disappointed in this like I was initially. There are still some punkish songs on here but its very sporadic; you're mostly getting the "indie-r" side of the band here.

a big thing that got me into JM was the vocal arrangements/melodies and I feel like thats the most lacking aspect of this album at least so far. I need to give it more time. Was hoping for another "Constant Headache"-esque closer, but that was me being selfish.

Schley kicks ass though.

Catalina Fight Song is basically the pinnacle of aggression on this album though, so yeah. It doesnt get anymore "intense" than that.

@Malleus I've seen that before haha. Wish I could listen to that 16 minute jam.

Is it weird to say it's not too surprising that Joyce Manor's poppier songs would give off a "smiths" vibe?
