Behind the Blood/Lacquer/Winter of Our Passing/City Glaciers all grew on me quite a bit and i prob like them as much as anything on this album but on the whole it was a p hit or miss venture.
I felt the same about Dead End Kings until like many years after its release though and something clicked for me, so who knows.
Honestly don't find much about this that obviously better, I'm between 3.5-4 on both and that's prob being generous because 3-3.5 feels low to me because I'm dumb. Great Cold Distance thru Hall of Farts is my fav Katatonia for sure.

I vibe w/ this band's general sound/the album production hard on the back half of their discog so it's hard for them to miss for me but yeah this one was right on the midline for me, if it's on any list it's because it's been a relatively slow year for me and I didn't dislike it.

I gotta be honest. This was great but majorly disappointing at the same time.

How does this have the same average rating as city burials? Night and day difference.

Repeating myself but this having a 3.6 average bums me out. What are people smoking before ranking this thing? Every component from the production, songwriting/compositions to the instrumentation and vocals are all top notch.

They are both 3.5's for me. City Burials for its blandness and lack of creativity, and this for feeling disjointed and all over the place.

The thing most bland about City Burials was the mix imo, very nice record

They are both pretty great records, just fall short of the run between Night is the New Day and Fall of Hearts for me. There are some great tracks on City Burials, Heart Set to Divide is one of my favorite openers by them.
