I should probably give Birth of Violence some spins before the new one.
I was fairly obsessed with every album she did prior but this one bounced off of me fairly quickly for some reason. The singles for the new one rule

as someone that adores Pain is Beauty, Abyss, and Hiss Spun, same. I think this record is great but it feels like ground she already covered with better projects. Like, this is closer to Apokalypsis and Unknown Rooms but really the only tracks that measure up are the title track and Mother Road imo
I’m absolutely loving all of the singles. New one is probably the weakest but I’m sure it’ll grow on me.

It's my least favorite of the four singles released so far yeah. I think she should have stopped at 3 singles, considering how close the album release date is.

I really hope that the new album will bring back the darkness & power of her pre-BoV records. This one was quite disappointing, without any truly memorable moment.

Yeah American Darkness does absolutely nothing for me.
Honestly, this is barely a 3.5 for me. Mother Road and the title track are great, I like Dirt Universe and Deranged For Rock and Roll, Be All Things is nice. The rest is completely forgettable imo.

I think that this album rests solely on Chelsea’s vocals. I love them, I think she’s an amazing vocalist, but it’s not enough to carry a full record of kind of bland acoustic instrumentals imo
This is totally just conjecture but I feel like Ben did not contribute much to this record and it really shows with how plain some of these songs are.
