dude i wasn't saying that this is boring or that ambient music = boring, ambient is like the primary genre i listen to lol. actually even though i don't like this i wouldn't call it boring, actually kind of the opposite and that was sort of my point/my main gripe with most post rock really. there's a lot of cool ideas and themes here but they're so eager to develop them into something massive and epic they lose their charm when i think they would have stayed much more effective and interesting if they weren't constantly trying to build into something and would spend more time expanding theirs themes as they establish them. like it all just feels so rushed

its the same problem i have with gybe, i love some of the quiet atmospheric moments of their music so much but they never seem to stay on one theme they set up for more than ~4 minutes before moving to something else or having it build and end in some ridiculous climax

To each his own, Postrock can be a lot to take in for people. Even the best of it can drag sometimes

Explosions would not be classified as primarily ambient when the term post-rock exists, they're one of the main bands that play the style. Post-rock clearly involves ambience, so what's the argument here? The genre has a pretty loose definition (some might just call post-rock ambient music with traditional rock instrumentation) but regardless of what post-rock means to you, there is clearly prevalent ambience involved.

I was more targeting Kman's comment complaining that this and post-rock in general is just "bad ambient music for people with short attention spans," which has to be one of the dumbest posts I've seen in a long time. I don't blame you for being frustrated at all haha

I'm seeing these guys on Wednesday but for some reason I keep forgetting about the gig. I'm not hyped for it at all and that's quite a strange feeling that I can't quite explain. Never felt this way about a gig for a band I love before. Hope it's awesome though, and I hope some excitement finds me on the day of the gig.

I think it will. I've seen them twice this year, Minty, and it's been amazing both times.

show was phenomenal. much better than the last time i saw them. i still think munaf needs to turn the treble down on his strat for gigs but other than that, so good. birth and death of the day is one of the all-time greatest live songs. and the climax of only moment we were alone is an almost unparalleled moment in live music.

Heart-stopping, almost literally.

The support act, called Entrance, was laughably bad though.
