He's promoting a band. He posted that in another review of this album.

Sorry to tell you, but Martyr isn't good.

I agree with you...the only thing which they have in common is that they are canadian and death metal bands lol.

Just watched the "Making Of" video, really cool. You get to hear the unsampled drums and fuck, Stu gets most of the vocals in one take. It's awesome watching him switch voices with such ease.

The new vocalist is good but his really high notes aren't that great. This will take some time for this to grow on me, as of now I liked their last album better.

Agreed. It's one of my favourite songs off the album.

This is my favorite into eternity album... my only complaint is that there isn't much bass or crunch in the album. I think it would've been better with that more crunch and oomph. Otherwise, all around, it freakin rules.

And I love the cover art

Had to fix part of the review. Jim (drummer) read my review and wanted me to clarify that only the snare and kick drums are sampled, the cymbals and whatnot are legit.

An awesome album and an exceptionally great review. A nice touch at the start with the Donald Trump thing I must add.

This album's pretty good, Timeless Winter is by far the best song on here; the intro 6/8
riff is so tight. This Message Edited On 10.30.06

I didn't really like the vocals much at first either, but they grew on me after a few listens.

I cannot see how ANYONE can rate this above a 2.

This is just plain BORING death metal....it's not even near prog.

First of all, the vocals. The vocals are TERRIBLE, just plain out lame. The grunts are always in the same key, they are exactly the same in EVERY song except he belches out different words. His falsetto singing suffers from the same problem PLUS it's so high and wanky that I have trouble believing he actually sung that, bet you they used something electronical for that. As for his standard voice, it isn't TOO bad, but it still has the vocal range of a fucking onion.

The guitars... well, the riffs ain't that bad, but they're nothing spectacular either, and they aren't really catchy or anything, they sound random and totally out of place. They also sound the same every song, so that after one listen I cannot tell which song is which if you would play me the intro. The soloing sounds like John Petrucci, but on DT's bad songs. In other words, they're at random intervals and do not belong there, it's just one chaotic mess. It's not even appropriate for the song either, i know prog is all about time changes, but this isn't actually captivating, or excellent songwriting, this is just "OH YEAH WE NEED A SOLO PLAY SOMETHING SHREDDY GUYS".

The bass, is well, I cannot hear the bass except on Surrounded By Night I think, which also happens to be the best track on the album.

The only good thing about this is the drums, the guy sounds technical and extremely fast, that's pretty much the only likeable thing I could find on here. But the drums usually can't make a song, they just keep the tempo... so, this really doesn't salvage any individual songs either.

In short, I think you guys are totally overrating this band, this is a shit release from a band who think they can be Dream Theater and Opeth at the same time, but fall flat so miserably it isn't even funny anymore.

Please, guys, go back to school, and return to me when you've written an actual song, instead of a mess of notes with some sung/grunted words tagged on.

The lyrics are also fucking trite.

This is probably the only thing I agree with in your post, but hey one man's trash is another man's treasure. :p

I agree with most of what Altmer said. I was really dispointed with that album too.

I also agree with Mikesn when he says one man's trash is another man's treasure...
