really nice combination of the comforting familiar charm with more explicitly existential musings - and the way each song goes in an unexpected direction without losing coherence or "their" sound. like the last third of Connect is ushered in by what amounts to footwork! and Mary Boone SOTY on God

Bro what? Mary Boone is one of the tracks I gave a 2.5 to lol. That’s a highlight for people? Almost every good idea they have on this album they torpedo, it’s so infuriating. They also rip themselves off (noticed a few melodies on here sound straight up lifted from Modern Vampires). Maybe with a better vocalist I’d dig it more, but even then the music isn’t always great, like that weird contrived inclusion of jazz in that one song.
