The album of the year...ranked/rated:
1. Sirenesque [5] (probably song of the year)
2. Garlands [5] (catchiest song, good choice as single)
3. Feathers, Books and Lace [5] (emotional heavy hitter)
4. Lost Bravado [5] (classic Bathers)
5. The Camellia House [4.5] (love the guest guitar work)
6. Welcome to Bellevue [4.5] (maybe could have been the closer tbh)
7. Locomotion is Easy [4] (a tiiiiny bit of a pace killer sometimes)
8. She Rose Through the Aisles [4] (wraps things up neatly, the least amazing of the standalone tunes though)
(all below this point are shorties, not really standalone songs)
9. On the Road to the Isles [3.5]
10. A Map of Venice [3.5]
11. Late Night Conversations [3]
12. Culzean [3]

Funny that equal old timers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark released a new album a week after I referenced them in the summary for this review :/

wow, sirenesque is just... god damn. one of the most beautiful tracks i've heard from 2023.
i'm not familiar with their work, but am i the only one who's reminded of slower latter-day Bowie tracks - particularly the vocals. idk, there's something in his voice that makes me think of Bowie.

Gyro - I mentioned Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’ performance in the review ;)
This is the most his vocals have sounded like Bowie since their 1990 album ‘Sweet Deceit’
