The songs are nice, but it's not AOTY material IMO

bloodbunny definitely my favourite

Six songs stand out for me: x w x, sulky baby, dazies, software update, inferno, bloodbunny

Rest is nice enough but slaps a 3.5/4 ceiling on this for me - still probably best Yeule so far

Software Update/Inferno/Bloodbunny is defs the purple patch, but I love Ghosts and the opener a lot

Tbh I don't think any of these tracks compete with past Yeule S-tiers (defs not hearing anything Pretty Bones or Bites on my Neck level), but it's got the highest floor of any of their projects so far so not too fussed

so yeah not q AOTY, but pop AOTY is another question. No other pop I've heard this yr is a patch on this

as a full album listen I think this maybe does the best job (like you said a high floor) but need to revisit the previous ones and double check

Jessie Ware is my pop AOTY so far, and Yves Tumor also has Yeule beat (if that counts as pop). And although I'm not one of them, Caroline Polachek's album has a lot of fans.

new Jessie Ware has about 33% of a great album scattered within it and I remember nothing of the new Yves or if I made it to the end (revisiting now and i think i see why) + lol yes that new Polachek album is mid city

Fever Ray, Doja Cat and Amaarae clear all three as runners ups; still not exactly the most packed competition this year. crossing my fingers the new REOL will be end-to-end good, but otherwise can't see much to get excited about on the imminent horizon

I forgot about Yaeji - that was better too. Yeule top 5 though. Kelela overall AOTY by a long way - but not really pop.
