I think blaze needed more good songs, because steve was going through a bad time during this album which made the songwriting quite dark. which lowered there confidence for virtual XI which had some really poorly written songs because of the repetition of the chorus.

i think blaze should be allowed 1 more song to prove his ability. But still, i love this album.

One the most underrated metal albums ever! This album is one of Maiden's best in my opinion :D Blaze is doing amazing job on this one.

@Greggers: How did you know

But seriously, I think this is an underrated album. Even if I didn't like Maiden, I think I would still see this as an underrated album. Blaze is amazing on this album! :D

I really liked the X-Factor, Sign of the Cross and Lord of the Flies are classics, and Judgment of Heaven is very underrated. As a whole, not there best obviously, but Blaze suits the album. And its still Maiden.

It would be totally disrespecting Blaze, but I'm curious as to how this and Virtual XI would sound if Bruce overdubbed the vocals.

Mission impossible: Replacing Bruce part.1.

Some good moments like Man on the Edge or Sign of the Cross are not enough to make this a classic Iron Maiden album. Up the Irons!!

Gotta say i am loving blazes voice. fortune of war is a drastically underated song. the bass in the beginning carries such a deep sense of sadness

Blaze is a good vocalist, and I'd even say he could be a serious contender against Dickinson.

But the music in this album is just dull. After a while, there's only so much you can take of the same.

On the surface, the music is actually pretty solid for something so black and bleak. The real problem is that the production and mixing just stretches everything too thin, so it doesn't sound or feel as powerful as it should.

Memorable enough, though.

I really enjoyed this album, but yeah, this is different than older Maiden.

Ah, here we are with another unfairly underrated album. This review is pretty good and i agree that Blaze Bayley made things seem fresh again for Maiden after the two dissapointing albums that preceded this one plus i find that some of Maiden's most underrated songs appear on this album [like Judgement Of Heaven which is an excellent song that should be heard whether you like Blaze's singing or not!]

Blaze is an average vocalist at best.

Listen to his solo work... He's a great vocalist.
